Wanting to smoke:
To start smoking you must want to smoke. Seems simple enough huh? Now that you have decided that you want to smoke now comes the hard part!
This is harder for some people than others so here's how you do it. First, look around you school and try to spot anyone who smokes around your age (this makes it easier to ask). Then you can ask them to buy a pack for you. If this makes you too nervous to do then ask your friends if they know someone who smokes and then hook up through friends. Also if you just want one cig, a good way is to go to the local mall or where teens hang out to smoke and ask to bum a cig off of someone there for a quarter. Most will be most happy to oblige. If your parents smoke then you can always ask them to buy cigs for you or if you really want to smoke then steal some. I would never do this because it doesn't seem right but hey! Some people have no problem doing this! If you live in Canada, some places there still have cigarette machines that if you put money in you get a pack of cigarettes. This is just like a candy machine.
Learning how to smoke:
Once you have your brand new pack or single cigarette doesn't it feel good? There is nothing in the world like having a pack to call your own. Now to the good stuff! Now you need some matches or a lighter. Lighters are much better for teen smokers because you can carry a lighter on the go. With teen smokers there is no "guaranteed" smoking time so you may need to go to different places to smoke. That is where the lighter is handy but we'll get more into that later. After you light your cigarette some people complain that it tastes bad, you'll get to love this taste later on. Take a couple of puffs first in your mouth and exhale, don't breathe in yet. First get used to the taste and the act of inhaling. Then after a couple of puffs, take a puff and take a deep breath. You might cough a lot at first but this is totally natural. If your nervous just take a small breath in. Later as you learn to smoke, you will be able to breathe in deeper.
Uh oh! Now that I smoked I have a smell on me! What do I do for this!?!!?:
Ok, you've smoked and realized that the stuff leaves a smell! Oh shit your thinking! Im' going to get into trouble! Not to fret! If you follow my easy steps you will be smell free or not smelling to the point where the smell can be confused for something else. After you smoke have some gum or a breath mint ready. Also if you eat something spicey this also gets rind of the smell sometimes. Things that don't work: Milk, water, orange juice, certain types of pop. If you eat after smoking then this might get rid of the smell on your breath. Now what clothes you have on will smell too. Not your pants or jeans but what top your wearing. If you smoke with your right hand then your right sleave will smell. DO NOT EVER WEAR SHORT SLEAVE SHIRTS IF YOU WISH TO HIDE SMOKING! The smell will not only be on your shirt but on your arm! You can always just take off the shirt but your arm WILL smell. To get rid of this, just smoke outside with a jacket on. Then just wash the jacket about twice a week. Also when you smoke your hands will smell. Just find a good brand of soap and that will take the smell away, easy as pie.
Now that the smell is gone where do I put my cigs?
Find a safe place to put them that none of your parents go to in your room. For example, I collect toys as a hobby. I keep my packs of cigs in an empty toy box. Rules for hiding them are that you should have them not in a too inaccessible place. You shouldn't be able to find them just by knocking something over but they should be not difficult to get in to. In other words dont hide them too well or you'll get aggravated at all the time it takes to get to them and as a teen smoker time to smoke is nothing to waste! Also a good hint is to hide your lighter and cigs in different places because if one gets found then you always have the other. For example: If my mom finds my lighter I can always use matches to light my cigs! If my mom finds my cigs then as soon as I get some new ones I can start smoking again because I have a lighter at my disposal.
That covers all there is to smoking but there is a lot of other things to consider too!
My friends dont smoke! What should I do?
Simple. Just find some smoking friends. Smoking friends are great because you can share all your smoking experiences and stories. This is great for teen smokers so they have someone to tell their stories to. If you can't find any smoking friends then try getting some of your existing friends to smoke! Chances are that they never even tried a cig yet so give them their first and offer to get cigs for them. This will convert an already existing friend to a smoking friend! If all of the above fails (which it rarely does) There are now Internet groups that talk about smoking. Teen smokers should take advantage of this option if they have no smoking friends. There are a lot of teen smokers out on the net so its not hard to find a group to hook up with.
Lighter or matches? And what type of lighter?
Matches are very short. When you have a lighter you can keep the flame going for a while. With matches, a good 15 seconds are good with out you getting burned. As to what type of lighter? I prefer a zippo because it looks very stylish and you can refill it. In the long run it makes the best lighter because you dont have to buy disposable lighters. Also once you get a zippo you dont have to buy another for a long time. I have had mine for almost a year and its still going strong! Teen smokers should really get a zippo because you usually get only a couple of chances to buy lighters and that's it. When your disposables run out, thats it! With Zippo's you only buy it once and you can refil it with a lot of things. I use charchol lighter fluid with mine. You can use a number of things but DONT USE GASOLINE this substance is highly flamable. Also when filling your lighter I suggest to wait until everyone is either gone or asleep because the fluid leaves a smell behind. Also Zippo's come in many designs that can reflect your personality as a smoker. I am a wrestling fan so I have a wrestling lighter! Go for what you are comfortable with!
Where should I smoke?
There is no universal place to smoke but here are some good places where teens can smoke! Malls, local teen hangouts, behind buildings, in alleys (depending where you live!), in your window in your room, before school, after school, concerts, your garage, friends garages, back yard, firends back yeard, etc..
Places NOT to smoke?
Do not smoke in places with very little ventilation, the smell will be there. Also in your basement because the smell will be very strong down there for some reason. Plus your parents are always down in the basement washing so DON'T DO IT!
THINGS TO NOT DO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET CAUGHT!
-DO NOT LEAVE BUTTS AROUND YOUR ROOM OR IN YOUR POCKETS
-DO NOT LET THE SMELL LINGER IN YOUR ROOM. WHEN YOU ARE DONE SMOKING INSIDE YOUR ROOM KEEP THE WINDOWS OPEN AND THE DOOR OPEN SO THAT THE SMELL CAN LEAVE. SMELL GOOD SPRAY WILL BE A HUGE HELP GETTING THE SMELL OUT!
-DO NOT TELL YOUR PARENTS YOU SMOKE AFTER A WEEK OF SMOKING! WAIT FOR A WHILE UNTIL YOU GET YOUR NUMBERS HIGHER! THIS MEANS A HALF A PACK A DAY AT LEAST!
-ALWAYS PUT YOUR CIGS AND LIGHTER BACK TO THE SAME SPOT SO YOU CAN FIND THEM LATER! BETTER THAT YOU FIND THEM THAN YOUR PARENTS!
-DO NOT IMMEDIATELY GO NEAR YOUR PARENTS! LET THE SMELL (IF ANY) GO AWAY FOR AT LEAST A COUPLE OF MINUTES!
GOOD HINTS FOR THINGS TO DO!
-SMELL GOOD SPRAYS ARE REALLY GOOD TO HAVE, THEY ARE A LIFE SAVER!
-ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING AROUND TO CLEAN YOUR BREATH (BREATH MINTS, MOUTH WASH) AFTERWARDS
-REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN. SMOKING IS REALLY GREAT THE LONGER YOU DO IT. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A SMOKER THEN TRY AT LEAST TWO PACKS BECAUSE IT IS'NT ALWAYS GOOD FOR SOME PEOPLE AFTER THE FIRST PACK BUT THEN YOU START SEEING SOME OF THE GOOD THINGS AFTER!
-WATCH SMOKING MOVIES. IT'S ALWAYS COOL TO SEE PEOPLE YOU LOOK UP TO SMOKING. IT MAKES YOU FEEL AS YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON WITH THEM!
